Clean re-create Outlook profile

Scenario

Your outlook profile is the template that Outlook creates when you sign in for the first time. It contains your email address, login information, and other preferences. If it’s not up to date, it can cause problems when you try to sign in or sync your account. Here are some tips for troubleshooting any local client issue you might faced.

 

Steps

  1. Close all Office apps

  2. Delete all folder/keys under this registry hive

    HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Profiles
    
  3. Delete all Outlook cache file under this directory. Go to this location by pasting it on Windows Run (Windows +R)

    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
    

    Tip: If no AppData found, change the settings to view hidden files

  4. Rename the whole Outlook Folder to OutlookOLD

    Important: If account is on IMAP set up check first if you have contacts and calendars saved locally on the account, if you have, refrain from doing this as this process will delete local cache.

  5. Delete all profile in Mail (Control Panel)

    Control Panel > View by : Small icons > Mail (Microsoft Outlook)
    
  6. Run quick repair Office suite and restart the machine

  7. Setup a new outlook profile
