Summary

Bernie is currently contributing to Fujitsu as an L2 Messaging & Collaboration engineer.

His main responsibility includes(but not limited to) overseeing 180K++ mailboxes & 30K++ SharePoint objects and also develop automation tools & monitoring systems based on PowerShell, Power Apps, Power Automate & other Microsoft 365 (M365)’s SaaS product.

In a granular level, his task involves supporting Fujitsu’s subsidiary in APAC, China, Europe, & Oceania in terms of messaging or any communication needs which includes onboarding\offboarding, migration, system update, automation, and downtime resolution.

Moreover, he too is involve in maintaining their on-premise environments (Exchange & Lync servers) and managing other email\web appliances (Sophos).

Prior to that, he did a few outsourced job with Avanade-Microsoft as a M365 (SaaS) support and has been involved with other support stream like service desk, tier 2, telephony infrastructure, and consumer product support.

Techinical Service Engineer | January 2021 - Present

  • Managed assigned requests from supported region using ServiceNow & shared inboxes\Teams channel

  • Developed a highly proficient skills in PowerShell scripting by lead authoring an all-in-one toolbox that automates repetitive tasks in managing M365 and server objects. The toolbox includes versioning system, modularized architecture, and centralized update capability. With that, this initiative..

    • Driven better collaboration within my local team as they can contribute new and update modules as they come and go
    • Reduced errors in task completion by 95%
    • Increased task completion time rate by 40%  
  • Gained a nation wide recognition by developing two monitoring\reporting systems for Exchange & SharePoint online during my first 4 months that resulted to 70% efficiency in managing M365 resources and effortless compliance management.

  • Obtained expertise in M365 Power Platform by leading the deployment of an ITSM system based on SharePoint Online, Power Automate and Power Apps used for three major department.

    • Japan’s project management department. This resulted to the decommissioning of their MS Project server and reduced operation cost by 90%.

Web - The Daily Exploits

Personal • Nov 2020

A cost-free (except for the domain), built with open source and coded from scratch website that host my knowledge base throughout my IT Pro career.

The website stand on a micro instance hosted on Google Cloud Platform and setup as LAMP stack. The CMS utilize WordPress and theme heavily customized using PHP\CSS\HTML\JS.

Later iteration, I used Roots Trellis workflow to minimize server maintenance.

Power Apps - PMO

A tool based on a SharePoint custom form (Power Apps) where in the project management team can manage tasks and their SLA. The home page uses a SharePoint site pages and database is hosted on a list library.

It has automated email notification, responsive design, and rendering process logs on the SharePoint out of the comment section.

Web - Solutionaut

The lightest web deployment stack I’ve ever used. It serves static web pages using a mix of cost-free technologies. In the video below, you’ll see me update a web page from local to production environment.

Role: lead developer\designer of this solo initiative

Overview: Because of this stack’s obvious advantages and simplicity, I’ve moved everything over from my previous website configuration. Mainroad by Vimux is the starter theme I chose, but I made a few customizations (TOC, Darkmode, etc.) because most of the functionality I require is not present.

  • Straightforward: Public HTML files are stored in Google Cloud Storage (GCS), eliminating the need for a host machine (serverless).

  • Quick: With just a few easy cmdlets, it uses Hugo as the static site generator for both of my local and production environments. Local virtual machine and complicated dependencies are no more.

  • Economical: With the amount of ingress and egress in GCS at this setup, I spend essentially nothing per month. However, they are really static files that are kept on GCS, and for a few cents per GB per month, you may store files with the confidence that GCS will provide them with excellent availability and virtually handles any volume of traffic.

  • Secure: Since GCS doesn’t offer free HTTPS support, I utilized Cloudflare for network-related services like DNS and content delivery caching. The Cloudflare server performs SSL termination, which encrypts user traffic from their browser to Cloudflare before decrypting requests between Cloudflare and the origin server (in this example, the GCS server). I don’t pay them anything each month because the fundamental (free) tier can already manage this.
